The making of Shylight (short version) from Studio DRIFT on Vimeo.

Shylight, performative light sculptures by Studio Drift, at the Rijksmuseum Amsterdam :: Five calyxes perform a mechanical ballet of opening and closing. The light sculpture combines nature’s changing movement with advanced robot and light technology. The calyxes, made of many layers of organic silk, unfold in all their glory only to retreat timidly, like flowers closing up at night.
